8-week Beginners Foundation

Yoga Course


Kaanchan Adhikary will be offering an 8-week Beginners Course at Peggy Kelley's Yoga Studio on Sunday mornings running from August 30 to October 18. Each class includes asana, pranyama, mudra, and prepatory meditation practices. The course includes development of the full 8-stage Satyananda Yoga Nidra™ practice and a practical workshop on nasal passage cleansing/irrigation (jala neti). This course is most suitable for those wishing to develop a fundamental foundation in joint & body awareness, proper breathing, and deep relaxation. Click here for more details regarding curriculum.

Kaanchan AdhikaryKaanchan has spent the last four years living and travelling in Nepal, India, and Australia. For the past three years he has pursued yogic studies at Bihar School of Yoga (India) and SATYANANDA YOGA® Academy (Australia), learning from experienced swamis in ashram residential courses and programs. Kaanchan is an accredited Level II SATYANANDA YOGA® Teacher (SYA ID 23280) and has taught yoga classes, cleanses, and workshops in yoga centers large and small, and academic courses. He currently resides in Austin, TX where he continues to share his love of teaching and living yoga.

Jala Neti Workshop Details

Material Covered:
Background and theory of yogic cleanses (shatkarmas).
Application of nasal irrigation.
Asanas or exercises which support nasal health and awareness.
Pranayama or breathing techniques which foster awareness of breath and the breathing process.
Satyananda Yoga Nidra™; full 8-stages.

Park anywhere. On right side of house is path leading to backyard. Please use that entrance, or if unsure, feel free to ring doorbell.

Time:
10:30AM - 12:30PM
Please allow yourself to be a few mintues early to get settled and comfortable.

What to wear & bring:
Comfortable, semi-loose clothing. As some postures require legs to open, please consider wearing clothing which is not revealing, but loose enough for comfort.
Please bring a mat if you have one or prefer to use one. The floor is carpeted, hence a matter of personal preference.
Neti pots will be provided for the workshop. Please bring your own, if you have one. Stainless steel neti pots may be purchased for $20.

Other:
Yoga can be practiced comfortably when the stomach is not full. There is no need to fast or have the stomach empty either. Eating a meal 2-4 hours before the class is ideal, giving time for the digestive process to fulfill its function.
